Dear Mr. Servan-Schreiber:

	Many thanks for your letter of July 28, and I agree with
all its proposals.  I have been advocating
electronic libraries since 1961, and the Centre Mondial looks
like an opportunity to make progress.

	I had hoped to visit you on August 8 on my
way to IJCAI, but Raj told me that you and others would be out of
town.  I will be in Paris again for the International Congress on
Information Processing from September 19 to 23 and can stay a few
days longer returning on the 27th so as to make my first class of
the Autumn quarter.  At this time we can plan the workshop and
discuss the resident manager.  We don't have much money, so it
is important to try to get a single person able to do everything from dealing
with vendors to writing programs and even writing press releases.

	I will be in touch with Raj when I return from IJCAI, and
I am looking forward to meeting you in September.

	Incidentally, I have no problem with written French letters
or documents, although I don't understand oral French well enough
for business or scientific use.
